B&Q Home Décor Range Review

Collaborating with the largest Home Improvement & Garden Centre in the UK is always an exciting prospect, especially when it involves our emerging Visual Merchandising pillar! OSP were afforded the opportunity to work closely with the B&Q Décor VM Team, using AutoCAD to meticulously review and optimize the existing B&Q store plans.

The primary objective was to ensure seamless integration of the new visual merchandising principles and updated equipment within the Décor SWAS space, whilst also optimizing the flow of racking to achieve the ideal range adjacencies, improving the overall appearance of each store. Due to the unique nature of each B&Q store, a standardized approach couldn’t be applied, which meant the team had to adapt to each individual store layout. The new Décor concept itself was a big change from the existing layout, and the project was complex as the work we were doing linked with various projects across the Space Planning team at B&Q.

Nevertheless, the OSP Visual Merchandising team used our advanced visual skills and AutoCAD expertise to develop department layouts that not only enhanced the shopping experience for customers, but also offered visually appealing sightlines!

Head of VM, Jenni Beagent says: “Décor holds a special place in my heart as in previous roles working for B&Q I designed soft furnishing ranges and developed new concept store environments, so to be involved again in such monumental change was a privilege. It was a real pleasure working with the B&Q team too – faces familiar and new!”’
